REVIEW by Laurie: Undercover Alliance (Confederacy Treaty #3) by Lilly Cain (@urbanfantasyrev)

Sarina is scarred. Her L’inar, the curving nerve lines that enable Inarrii to experience their full sexuality, were severed in battle and she can no longer reach completion. Until she accepts a job as bodyguard to the human ambassador John Bennings, and is astonished to discover that they share a mental bond—a mirrored pathway of thoughts that will allow Sarina to climax.

When John’s the target of an attack and they are forced into hiding, he’s not sorry to be in close quarters with the compelling Sarina. They explore their erotic connection, and John is happy to demonstrate that humans have more sexual skills than Sarina thought.

To prove that she is whole and rejoin her Inarrii clan, Sarina needs John to bring her to climax in public in accordance with tradition. With a roomful of Inarrii and humans watching, will John be willing to perform as Sarina needs—and will their public display make John vulnerable to another attack?

I got the ARC for Undercover Alliance and you know what I really have to pay attention to what I sign up to review, first off this was a little too science fictiony for my taste and secondly I hate picking up a book in the middle of a series.  Undercover Alliance is the third book in the Confederacy Treaty and since I haven’t read the first two it was rather daft starting with the third one.

Undercover Alliance was thankfully very very short only about 100 pages on my ereader so when I actually spent time reading it, it was very quick. The problem was actually reading it, sci fi is not really my thing and whoever thought sci fi and romance go together…ugh not so much.  I don’t mind sci fi in movies or on TV, I just find it to hard to get into in a book.

The story itself was ok, nothing great I found the characters kind of boring and the world building wasn’t that great, but in fairness that is probably because I didn’t read the first two books or because it was just so damn short.  Anyway this is the beginning and the end of this series for me just really not my thing but if you’re into romantic sci fi give it a shot.

2.5/5  Not really my thing.
