REVIEW by Lorna: Blood From a Silver Cross (Kat Redding #4) by E.S.Moore (@Mollykatie112)

Trust is a dangerous business.
Some people still call Kat Redding by her hunter name: Lady Death. But she’s not eager to see more violence brought to her doorstep. The neverending tide of hungry supes and vicious humans doesn’t change the math—sooner or later Kat’s one-vamp battle against the nightmares that infest Columbus is going to leave her dead. And she has innocent people—well, a werewolf and a demon-summoner—depending on her now.
But when a rogue werewolf who’s opted out of the bloodbath is found crucified and mutilated with toxic silver, Kat knows she’ll be tangling again with the dangerous Pureblood murderers of the cult of the Left Hand. She already has an undead countess blackmailing her into taking out the city’s garbage and a demon playing with her head. Add to that her serious suspicions about changes at the house of her uneasy ally Jonathan Alucard, werewolf denmaster, and Kat might have finally gotten in danger so deep, not even Lady Death can survive…

I requested this book from Net Galley because it was Urban Fantasy and had a kick butt female vampire female main character-always something that I want to read. When I started the book, I realized almost immediately that it was book four of a series. So even though I did read it, there was really so much I didn’t understand while I read it. That being said, I did like it.
What I liked about this book:
The main character, Kat Redding, was very well written. I liked even though she was such a strong female (and of course a vampire), that she is shown to be very vulnerable at times. There are people in her life she really cares about and she is learning to show that. Evidently she has been not the sweetest character in the past books and she is trying to change that.

I liked all the action. And believe me, this book is action packed-as in non stop at times. The more the action, the faster I read the book. She gets hurt but keeps on fighting. Kat was the total action heroine package and was pretty fearless most of the time.
I liked the basic premise and the author’s supernatural world building.. Kat is a vampire in a world where the supernatural is openly known. Known, but not necessarily accepted. The night pretty much belongs to the supernatural community, while the humans hide in their homes. Kat hunts the bad supernatural elements and is known as Lady Death. In this book, someone is killing werewolves from the community that Kat is friends with. Kat and the leader of this pack, Jonathan, are very close but still circling each other in a romantic way. Not quite a romance yet but maybe a possibility.
What I didn’t like about this book:
The lack of a real romance. I know it’s UF but I still would have liked a bit more romance. Four books in, and it just seems time for her to have one already. Now there might have been one previously, but I got the impression that Jonathan has been around awhile. For true Urban Fantasy fans, this probably won’t bother you.

The ending. Because I have not read the previous books, I have no idea exactly what was going on and that definitely wasn’t the author’s fault. If you have read the previous books, I am sure you will be fine.
Who I would recommend this book to:
I would recommend this book to all urban fantasy fans, adults or even older young adults. There is a lot of violence, but no sexual situations, although one is alluded to. As I said before, if you are looking for a paranormal romance, this book isn’t it.

Even though I had a bit of a hard time getting into the book(due to not knowing what was what), it was a satisfying, well written read with good characters. Someday I may go back and read the other books if I get the chance.
