[JENA] We have readers all over the world and I am always curious to see where our favorite authors are from. Where do you call base camp?
AMELIA JAMES [AMELIA] Colorado, near the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. Elevation 6000ft.

[JENA] A common trend as of late is cross-genre authors. It has become relatively uncommon to come across an author who only writes in one specific genre. It seems there are a lot of writers who like to dip their toes in all sorts of pools. Which genre or genres do you write?
[AMELIA] I write contemporary erotic romance and erotica. I’ve also written one paranormal historical adventure romance short story, but contemporary is my main focus. I guess I’m one of those rare birds. 😉

[JENA] Writers get inspiration from all over the place. Movies, books, music, people in their life, their own life, etc. Who or what is your most common muse?
[AMELIA] My muse is highly uncommon. He’s a real person, both an actor and a musician, so I’ve seen him in a variety of roles. He’s a little bit of a bad boy, so he comes up with some pretty dirty ideas. That’s why I love him.

[JENA] Are you 100% independently published or do you have traditional contracts as well? If you are 100% indie, would you ever consider a traditional publishing contract? Why or why not?
[AMELIA] I started out self-published, but now I’m with a small press, Evolved Publishing. I have no desire to join a traditional publisher. I’m happy where I am, and I have more control over my writing and my career as an indie.

[JENA] Writer’s block sucks. What do you do to overcome the blank stare when it hits you with everything it has got?
[AMELIA] Work on something else, read, listen to my muse’s music, or watch one of his movies. Or take a shower. I often work problems out when I’m doing something that doesn’t require a lot of thought.

[JENA] Let’s gab about your books. What fictiony goodness have you already unleashed on the general populous?
[AMELIA] Two contemporary erotic romance novels: Tell Me You Want Me, and Secret Storm.  An erotica series: Her Twisted Pleasures, Their Twisted Love, His Twisted Choice, and an omnibus edition, The Twisted Mosaic
A couple’s erotica anthology: The Devil Made Me Do It

The French translation of Tell Me You Want Me is currently #1 in France in the romance and erotica categories, ahead of Fifty Shades. 🙂

[JENA] What’s next for you and your writing? Any new titles coming out?
[AMELIA] I’m releasing another contemporary erotic romance, Home is Where the Heat Is, on May 19. After that I’m writing sequels to my other romance novels. Tell Me You Want Forever will be out December 2014.

[JENA] The latest trend with the indie author world is massive book signings and conventions featuring anywhere from 20 authors to 200 authors. What has your experience been at these events? Do you enjoy them? Or do they make you twitch and sweat?
[AMELIA] I love conventions! I’ve been to RomCon twice, first as a reader, and last year as an author. The book signing was the best part. I loved meeting new readers and a few who already knew me. I also met and snapped a picture of fitness model Gary Taylor.

[JENA] Do you have any appearances coming up? If so, tell us when and where (provide links if you have them).
[AMELIA] June 20-22: RomCon 2014 in Denver, Colorado
October 2-5: Pure Textuality in Minneapolis, Minnesota

[JENA] Now it’s time for some just-for-fun questions! If you were digitized like Tron and put on the internet what site would you visit first?
[AMELIA] Tumblr. There’s a lot of strange and beautiful things there.

[JENA] Have you ever Googled yourself? If so, were you surprised or shocked by any of the results?
[AMELIA] When I Google Amelia James, I get all my sites. But I looked up myself on Bing and found an escort with the same name. If I Google my real name, I find a German female body-builder. That’s not me.

[JENA] What would you do with a million dollars?
[AMELIA] Spend it! Spend it allll!

[JENA] If you were trapped on a desert island with one CD that you could listen to for the rest of your life what would it be?
[AMELIA] The House Rules – Christian Kane.

[JENA] How do you consume – read the book then watch the movie or watch the movie then read the book?
[AMELIA] I usually watch (fall asleep during) the movie first. I have a 3-year-old so I don’t get a lot of spare time. Or sleep.

[JENA] If you could live forever, would you? Why or why not?
[AMELIA] As long as I didn’t age, yes, I would.

[JENA] If you were faced with the zombie apocalypse and had to pick five people to be on your survival team, who would you pick?
[AMELIA] Eliot Spencer, Duncan MacLeod, Daryl Dixon (I’ve never seen The Walking Dead, but I hear he’s pretty badass), Iron Man, and Loki because they’re all either badass fighters and/or immortal. And it might help to have a trickster in the mix. If not, he’d certainly keep things interesting.

[JENA] Imagine the concept of reincarnation is real, who or what would you hope to come back as in your next life?
[AMELIA] Amelia James 😉
