Promises In The Dark

[JENA] We have readers all over the world and I am always curious to see where our favorite authors are from. Where do you call base camp?
PRINCESS RACENA MCCONNELL [PRINCESS] Summerville South Carolina, about fifteen miles outside of Charleston.
[JENA] A common trend as of late is cross-genre authors. It has become relatively uncommon to come across an author who only writes in one specific genre. It seems there are a lot of writers who like to dip their toes in all sorts of pools. Which genre or genres do you write?
[PRINCESS] My first series begins as a deeply moving love story which takes a Paranormal/Fantasy turn. Hate to tag it Paranormal-Romance because it’s so much more! I am also working on a Sci-fi/Horror novel, and a Young Adult. I do tend to jump around but my first love is Horror!
[JENA] Writers get inspiration from all over the place. Movies, books, music, people in their life, their own life, etc. Who or what is your most common muse?
[PRINCESS] Mostly just watching what happens in real life, it’s interesting and much scarier.
[JENA] Are you 100% independently published or do you have traditional contracts as well? If you are 100% indie, would you ever consider a traditional publishing contract? Why or why not?
[PRINCESS] Yes I am, I would possibly go traditional, just to avoid the headache of self-publishing. Then again I would hate to have to compromise on important aspects like release dates.
[JENA] Writer’s block sucks. What do you do to overcome the blank stare when it hits you with everything it has got?
[PRINCESS] I haven’t found out yet how to overcome it! But I try just walking away for a while when it strikes.
[JENA] Let’s gab about your books. What fictiony goodness have you already unleashed on the general populous?
[PRINCESS] “Promises In The Dark” is my first book that I have released. It is Book 1 of: “The Secrets of the Mystic Series.”
 Cracked Skin
[JENA] What’s next for you and your writing? Any new titles coming out?
[PRINCESS] Book 2, “Shattering The Damned” is in the works and hopefully will be ready for release by late spring. Then I will start on the final book in the series not yet titled. After that, I hope to release both “Bad Blood” and “Broken Boundaries” by late winter 2014.
[JENA] The latest trend with the indie author world is massive book signings and conventions featuring anywhere from 20 authors to 200 authors. What has your experience been at these events? Do you enjoy them? Or do they make you twitch and sweat?
[PRINCESS] I’ve been to one, only as a guest of a review site. My book just released in December of 2013 so I am still new to all of this!
[JENA] Do you have any appearances coming up? If so, tell us when and where (provide links if you have them).
[PRINCESS] Not yet, but I hope to!
[JENA] Now it’s time for some just-for-fun questions! If you were digitized like Tron and put on the internet what site would you visit first?
[PRINCESS] Probably Twitter so I could blow it up, not a fan of that over-rated celebrity dumping ground.
[JENA] Have you ever Googled yourself? If so, were you surprised or shocked by any of the results?
[PRINCESS] I just did haha, and no I was not surprised one bit!
[JENA] What would you do with a million dollars?
[PRINCESS] Give half of it away!
[JENA] If you were trapped on a desert island with one CD that you could listen to for the rest of your life what would it be?
[PRINCESS] Oh my gosh this is hard because I have nephews who are in the band “Cage The Elephant” so I would want to listen to them, but I’m a huge Eagles fan!
[JENA] How do you consume – read the book then watch the movie or watch the movie then read the book?
[JENA] If you could live forever, would you? Why or why not?
[PRINCESS] No definitely not, I would never want to outlive my children, grandchildren, or my hubby!
[JENA] If you were faced with the zombie apocalypse and had to pick five people to be on your survival team, who would you pick?
[PRINCESS] As long as my family is already on my team I would then of course pick Darryl Dixon, Rick Grimes, and of course Carol! Then I guess for really good measure I would snatch up Olivia Pope from “Scandal” because she can fix any problem! And last but not least Tyler Perry because we would need someone to keep us laughing!

[JENA] Imagine the concept of reincarnation is real, who or what would you hope to come back as in your next life?
[PRINCESS] Myself, so I could do it all over again…only better!
[JENA] Thank you for participating in Indies In Their Undies!
