The curse Aidan fights to keep secret is only one of the obstacles that will test the strength of their bond. Together they will navigate the violence of both nature and of man in pursuit of their destiny.

Lots and lots of paranormal romance shifter books out there, and I do try my share of them. Some are really good, some are really bad, and some are entertaining. I found this book to fall into the last category-entertaining.
Maggie is a journalist for a tawdry weekly national paper-the kind you find at the checkout in the grocery. She is a good writer, but was cheated out of her good job by a horrible co-worker. This is the reason she finds herself in the middle of rural Minnesota hunting for the proof of a werewolf, after a larger than normal gray wolf is spotted several times. It’s not long before the wolf saves her life, and not long after that, that the wolf befriends her as she spends night after night in the forest. When she sees a man in the nearby small town that has the same green eyes as the wolf, she’s pretty sure she’s found her proof. So she makes it her business to meet the man named Aiden, a local horse farm owner.
Maggie is a super feisty and headstrong main character. She’s smart, and not above doing what it takes to find out what she needs to know. At times though, I was a bit shocked at how fast her temper is set off. Most of the time she is in the right to be mad, but sometimes it’s a bit over the top. Aiden is one of those enigmatic, but still a good guy hero. He’s had a pretty tortured past and now spends every night without fail, as a wolf. He has no control over it. By necessity that means he keeps to himself. The author has made sure to fully flesh out both characters with full back stories. How Aiden became a wolf was pretty unique, I thought. Always a good thing for me.
Of course this was a romance, and a pretty good one at that. I liked the main characters, the small town atmosphere, accompanied by typical small town characters, and I really enjoyed the wolf! There is of course a villain, although I wasn’t really clear on why he does what he does. I mean I know, but it didn’t really ring true for me. But that was okay, as it didn’t bother me that much.
This was an adult read, but not erotica. It’s an easy read and fairly fast paced. I do recommend it to adult paranormal romance readers for an entertaining read. Next up, Fated Hearts!

About Becky Flade

Becky FladeWhen I was little I thought everyone had stories in their head. I didn’t find out that wasn’t the case until kindergarten. I remember thinking that was sad; and that I should share the ones I had. I asked my teacher for help. I had her cut, fold and staple the paper into a suspiciously book-like shape. Then I drew the cover art and illustrated the interior pages. Finally, and most importantly, I dictated the text. And violà … a writer was born.
It took thirty years for me to get from that first attempt to being a published author. I think the road thus far has added some depth and experience to my writing. At the very least I learned I shouldn’t ever do my own illustrations.
A city girl, born and bred, I tend to place my stories in and around southeast Pennsylvania, or at least have a character or two from the area. Home is where the heart is and I make mine with my very own knight in slightly tarnished armor, three beautiful daughters ranging in ages from college through pre-school, and a grandson who arrived on my birthday last year. When I’m not busy living my own happily ever after, I’m writing about someone else’s.

I can’t imagine going to hang out in the forest, just to chase a lead on a werewolf! She certainly wants to get her story! Great review!
