REVIEW by Kayla: Redemption by Rye Brewer

A vampire slayer by necessity.

Anissa Garnet is a vampire. She’s also a slayer. Anissa is no stranger to taking out the enemies of her clan leader. Her assignment is simple. Jonah Bourke is not to attend the League of Vampires. Ever. It should have been an easy kill. It should have been one and done. It would have been, if Jonah Bourke hadn’t saved her life.

An assignment like no other.

Vampire clan leader Jonah Bourke is that one. He didn’t plan to be a hero. He didn’t want to save the life of the slayer that was sent to kill him. Maybe he wouldn’t have, if he’d known.

Too late now.

Anissa just compounded his problems. Not that he didn’t have plenty: A rebellious twin who wants to claim leadership of their clan and a litany of supernaturals that want him dead. So what’s a vampire to do when he saves the life of the vampire girl sent to kill him?

Kayla’s Review

Redemption by Rye Brewer popped up on my Amazon suggestions list and I was hooked by the one liner. The story promised romance and suspenseful action which was a no brainer for me. Being a huge paranormal romance fan it was hook, line, sinker after that promising little note. I’ll start by saying this is a young adult paranormal read geared toward the teenagers just starting to branch out of the mild action in paranormal romance fan and light romance. I myself, do not enjoy this sub genre. As a veteran paranormal romance junkie the grittier and sexier the story is the more likely I am to stick with it. The storyline was slow in some parts to the point I ended up fast forwarding thru the chapters just to be able to finish the book. Now that’s not to say there to part I enjoyed, because there were, such as; the heroine being able to stand up for herself and being an overall warrior, the mystery behind her parentage kept the mystery alive, and the originality behind the storyline. I can recognize when a story has good potential.

This story just wasn’t for me. If you’re a paranormal romance fan that also likes stories for the younger generation (I say younger but I’m only 24. I just like my books with a lot more grit and sexy mixed in) then this might just be a book series you’ll want to give a try.
