Audiobook Proofing

Description

BookMojo now offers audiobook proofing services. For $15 per finished hour plus documentation time (usually averages about 30-45 minutes but the time varies by the number of errors found), we listen to your audiobook files while reading along to the Kindle version of your book.  Any errors found are documented using a screenshot of the Kindle book text and a description of the error along with the time stamp for where it can be found in the audio file.

FAQs

How do we get the files to you?  I’ve found it’s easiest if you upload the files (mp3 format) to a folder on your cloud drive (i,e, OneDrive, Dropbox, or Google Drive), and then share the folder with me.  I then go through and download each file as I listen to it.

Who else has access to my audio files?  Only those you share the files with outside of BookMojo.  BookMojo will never share, rent, sell, or otherwise distribute your files as we are diligent soldiers in the fight against piracy.  Once we’re done with the proofing, our downloaded copies are deleted.

What do you compare the audio to?  We use the Kindle copy of the book, either by purchasing it from Amazon, or reading it through Amazon’s Kindle Unlimited program (if the book is enrolled).  You do not supply us with a mobi, epub, or PDF file.

How far in advance do I have to book my proofing?  We require at least 7 days notice for a proofing.  Most audiobooks run at least 6 hours, which requires a big chunk of time dedicated to nothing but your proofing.  Therefore, we need to make sure we are able to block off that chunk of time for you.

Is there a deposit required to book my proofing?  Yes, we require a 4 hour deposit ($60) to book your proofing date.  Your proofing date is not reserved until your deposit invoice is paid.

Is my deposit credited to my balance?  Yes,the $60 is applied to your final balance with the deposit deduction shown on your final invoice.  The audiobook feedback is held until the invoice is paid.  Once the invoice is paid, the proofing feedback is sent via email within the next business hour (i.e. if you pay in the middle of the night our time, the feedback is sent as soon as we open the next morning).

When do my mp3s need to be ready?  They must be uploaded and the file shared with us at least 24 hours prior to your proofing date.  If your files are not ready, your date can be rescheduled to the next available date after the files are complete.

Is a proofing ever completed early? As long as we have access to all of the files, if we end up with a spare block of time, we’ll proof the book early.  The invoice for your balance due will be issued with a due date of your original proofing date.  Once the invoice is paid, the proofing feedback is sent via email within the next business hour (i.e. if you pay in the middle of the night, the feedback is sent as soon as we open the next morning).
