Review: From Dead to Worse by Charlaine Harris

From Dead to Worse is the 8^th installment in the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris. Having barely survived a catastrophic vampire hotel explosion, Sookie’s back at work in Bon Temps, LA, serving vintage blood and waiting tables at Merlotte’s. Participating in a friend’s wedding and fending off the advances of her vampire ex-lover, Bill, and her blood-bonded pal, Eric, leaves Sookie chafing over the recent lack of communication from Quinn, her weretiger boyfriend. When a violent Were power struggle erupts as Vegas vampires attempt to take over Louisiana from disgraced queen Sophie-Anne, Sookie dives into the middle of it, determined to help her shape-changing, blood-drinking friends. From Dead to Worse provides many fun twists, most significantly Sookie’s meeting with her fae great-grandfather, Niall Brigant, which paves the way for a shock ending that will delight longtime fans.

Can we say “hostile takeover”??? This is definitely the most violent so far of the Sookie Stackhouse books. There are some scenes in this one that actually turned my stomach a bit. I found myself really starting to despise the politics among the vampire and were communities. When it comes right down to it, the power struggle that they go through really is for the greater good. It’s just hard to swallow at times.  All you fans of the action genre will love it!

I thought this was a great book. A little let down in regards to Sookie’s romantic interests but I think there’s good things waiting for her now. 😉 And I am so over Bill Compton. I’ve been saying this for a while but I just cant stress it enough. I was so proud to see Sookie show it too. From Dead to Worse was a great book with a earth shaking revelation smacked right in the middle. There’s so much going on that the revelation sort of sneaks up on you, but you will NOT be disappointed!!! I could not have been smiling bigger!!! 4.5 stars for From Dead to Worse!
