RELEASE DAY REVIEW by Lorna: Sweet As Sin (Bad Habit #1) by J.T.Geissinger (@JTGeissinger , @Mollykatie112)

24933557Inside a drop-dead sexy, hard-partying rock star lies a good heart…and a dark secret.

Twenty-something Kat Reid is loving life as an in-demand Hollywood makeup artist. She has absolutely no interest in rock ‘n’ roll, but in order to pay the mortgage, she agrees to work on the set of a rock video for the world-famous rockers known as Bad Habit…which brings her face-to-face with Nico Nyx, lead singer of Bad Habit and Adonis in the flesh.

However, the fiercely independent Kat isn’t impressed by the hard-living, womanizing rock star. But when Nico’s model girlfriend shows up to the set drunk and Kat is tapped to replace her as the video’s sexy bride, her combustible chemistry with Nico suddenly threatens to consume the set. Nico feels it, too–and becomes determined to win Kat over, body and soul. Yet behind his rock god swagger, Nico hides a dark secret. Can he rock Kat’s world forever, or will he just break her heart?

J.T. Geissinger is a favorite author of mine, one of those that I will read anything they write simply because she wrote it. This is my first non-paranormal book by her, and I really thought it was good. I received this book from Net Galley in exchange for a fair and honest review.

Kat is a makeup artist in Hollywood. She goes to a rock video shoot for the ultra famous rock group, Bad Habit. She really isn’t a rock music kind of girl, but it’s her job to do the makeup and hair for super model, Avery Kane, who just happens to be high and completely out of it. Lead Singer of Bad Habit, Nico Nyx, takes one look at Kat, and decides she needs to star along side of him(since Avery can’t)in the video. He also pretty much decides that he wants her for himself as well. Since Nico is a known womanizer, and sometime boyfriend of Avery Kane, Kat isn’t having any of it, although she does do the video. Nico then starts his campaign to win her over.

Kat was a good main character. She has two best friends(Chloe and Grace)who end up being almost as well realized as Kat is by the author. The threesome spend a lot of time with each other and commiserate upon their individual romances with each other. So when Nico shows up in Kat’s life, they do have their opinions. Chloe is all for it, Grace, not so much. Kat is on the fence for awhile-she knows she wants him, but doesn’t want to be a fling for him, and she worries about Avery, although Nico swears they are not an item.

What follows can really only be considered pretty much erotica. BUT, it’s also got a very good story to go along with it. And that is what sets this apart from a lot of erotica for me. Nico has some really bad secrets, and a horrible back story that no one knows. There is also a villain that has it in for Nico, and Kat as well.

So not only was this a sweet and very sexually explicit romance, it was also a thriller of sorts, thanks to the crazed bad guy. There are plenty of scary moments as well as a couple of twists I didn’t see coming. I enjoyed the characters, the premise, and the writing, but one aspect of the sexual scenes did bother me. I am not going to go into any more detail however. It’s just personal taste. Going back to the writing, this author has never disappointed me with any of her work. Her previous series, Night Prowler, was one of the best paranormal series I have ever read, so if rockers aren’t your thing, you should try that one. But be prepared to be sucked in, and read non-stop!

This read ended up being a real page turner for me, and I would recommend it to adult romance/erotica fans. I can’t wait to see which rocker or friend of Kat’s, that the author will feature in the next of this series.

Full disclosure, I am a member of this author’s street team, but it in no way influenced my review.

I’m glad you sent me over here, Lorna. Since you are aware of what I read, you know this book is *right* up my alley. 😉 I’m one-clicking it right after I finish my comment. But I think I’ll finish the Night Prowlers series first. Anyway, I really like the sound of this with it’s rock star on a mission to woo a girl, and the suspense, too. As for the erotica, well, you know it doesn’t bother me as long as there’s a good story. So if you say there’s a good story, I’m in. 🙂 Great review!

Sorry just now saw this. Yes I did think you would love it 🙂 I really did think it had a good story and suspense as well. I hope you enjoy as much as you enjoyed the beginning of the Night Prowler series! And thank you 🙂
