Author Toolbox Product Review: YUNZII ACTTO B303 Bluetooth Keyboard

Eos lip balm shown for size comparison. Fallout shown because it’s awesome.

In the beginning of May, I shared a post on my Facebook page about a new Bluetooth keyboard I’d purchased. My trusty Fintie was still functional but randomly glitchy. At better than three years old, it was time to get a new one but I wasn’t actively looking for one. Instead, I was bullied by an ad on social media. 🤣

The keyboard in question is the Yunzii Actto B303 model Bluetooth keyboard. The super-cute design is meant to look like a typewriter, and where the paper would feed up through is where your tablet or smartphone sits instead. I’ve had over a month to use it and decide that it might be the best small dollar investment I’ve ever made for my writing career.

Buying over the internet comes with certain risks so rather than buying it from Temu for $11, I opted for buying it through Amazon Prime specifically so I could just go to my local Kohl’s should I need to return it. Paying a little bit extra was worth that alone but had the added perk of arriving on my doorstep the morning after I ordered it. I have no idea how long an order from Temu usually takes but I’m pretty sure it would have been longer than eighteen hours.

With the shipping hurdle cleared (and the problem of my impatience, if we’re being honest), my next biggest concern was the integrated tablet stand. I have a 10.1” Samsung Galaxy tablet and I was worried that it wouldn’t be stable sitting in the channel provided on top of the keyboard. However, I have been really surprised by how well it does. I can pick up the whole thing and move from one spot to another or change sitting positions and my tablet stays right where it is without the need of any special adhesive strips or cleverly rigged bungee cords.

My other concern was the weight. Too lightweight and it would tip. Too heavy and it would defeat the purpose of having a tablet at all. Thankfully, it’s perfect all around. Plus, there are the keys themselves. You guys. They’re so clicky. It’s not technically a mechanical keyboard but it feels like one when you type on it. Here’s a little video so you can hear it. Make sure your sound is turned on.

LISTEN TO THOSE CLICKY KEYS!

If you prefer mechanical keyboards, this keyboard is for you. I don’t know why but I write much faster and much more accurately when I can hear the keystroke. It’s the one complaint I have about my Fintie keyboard. The dome switches under the keys are so soft and quiet that I’d either have to watch my fingers as I type or the backspace key would get a rigorous workout.

Powered by AAA Batteries | Like any other Bluetooth keyboard, this one goes into a standby mode after a few minutes of inactivity. I’ve been using it several hours every day for about six weeks and still haven’t had to put in fresh batteries. I planned on buying a rechargeable battery set up but it doesn’t seem to burn through them fast enough to make it an urgent need.

Dorky Side Note About Texture & Stickers | If you’re a sticker hound like I am, one of the things you might find interesting about this keyboard is the texture of the plastic base is perfect for stickers. I have no idea how to properly explain this because I’m not an adhesives or plastics expert but I’m going to give it a try. The texture is good for putting stickers on (they don’t peel up on their own) but it’s also great for taking stickers off (without leaving an adhesive mess; for repositioning or just changing them up once in a while). There isn’t a lot of surface space for stickers but you can dress up what is there without ruining the keyboard.

Model Comparison | This review is for the B303 model. I chose this model because of the layout of the keyboard. It was a purchase made specifically for a focus on writing so I was not concerned with the other available options such as a 10-key number pad. The B305 model has a more squared off appearance but the same key layout as the B303. The B503 model features an expanded keyboard layout with the 10-key number pad off to the right. All three models have the same functionality. It’s just a matter of keyboard layout and slight difference in shape.

Overall, I very enthusiastically give the Yunzii Actto B303 five stars. It’s definitely been a terrific purchase for my writing and I honestly can’t come up with anything I dislike about it. I can’t recommend it enough. The quality far exceeded my expectations. I went into this purchase skeptical and fully expecting that the purchase was going to be wasted time. Enough so that I almost purchased a new Fintie keyboard just to have the back up and I’m happy to report that I won’t be needing it. The Yunzii Actto B303 delivers on everything it promises in the listing. I can’t wait for the first time I can take it with me while traveling. Either writing on a long flight or while playing passenger princess on a long drive. I think this will end up being a tool I never leave home without.
