Although they’re on the same website, our author services have no impact on the content of a review on our blog. All reviewers are required to give a fair and honest assessment of any books or reading/writing products they review on our blog, regardless of origin. The BookMojo blog nor any of its individual reviewers receive any monetary compensation for reviews. Complimentary review copies received do not guarantee a positive review.

Advanced Reader Copies (ARCs) and Advance Listener Copies (ALCs) take priority in our scheduling. Our current review turnaround time for back list titles is unknown. If your review request has a release day deadline, please include that information with your review request and we will do our best to accommodate. Reviews for ARCs or ALCs are posted to the BookMojo book blog on release day (or earlier is permission is granted for early reviews). Reviews for back list titles are posted at the earliest available date in our posting calendar. The turnaround time on product reviews is dependent upon too many factors to quote.

Some of us also like to read memoirs and biographies, but we do not accept review requests for them. We also do not read children’s books for review. Children’s and YA are not the same category.
We really don’t like to exclude genres but some simply don’t interest the BookMojo readership. The following genres or book categories are not going to be reviewed on the BookMojo blog:

* BookMojo reviewers are allowed to review memoires but we do not accept review requests for them.
** Erotica is a book purely about sexual exploration and is read by a niche audience that we do not have here at BookMojo. Erotic romance, which is much more mainstream, is welcome because there is a romance story line with a HEA at the end.

As of July 5, 2024, BookMojo no longer accepts books for review, feature, or promotion which have a cover featuring generative AI imagery in whole or in part. BookMojo also does not accept books for review, feature, or promotion which are written with a generative AI program or integrated tool. Reviews for BookMojo are prohibited from being written with generative AI.
BookMojo is 100% against piracy of any kind and has a zero-tolerance policy on the subject. BookMojo does not ever sell, rent, share, or otherwise distribute an author’s book without their permission. The books found on the BookMojo website are not live downloads, they are links to retailers, download pages, or direct sales product pages on an author’s website. Book reviews for pirated books are strictly prohibited on BookMojo.

We gladly accept Advance Reader Copies (ARC’s) and galley bound copies for review, as well as books which have been released already. If you are sending us an ARC or galley copy for review, we will do our very best to get the review up on, or very close to, the book’s release date. Just remember, if you want a review done by the book’s release date, as much advanced notice as possible is greatly appreciated.

Please refrain from blindly sending us raw ebook files. Each of our BookMojo reviewers is registered on all secure delivery ARC platforms such as NetGalley, Edelweiss/AbovetheTreeline, Booksprout, and Bookfunnel. Please contact us prior to sending a NetGalley or Edelweiss widget. Depending on which reviewer will be reading your book, you may need to use a different email address for the ARC widget delivery.
Please refrain from blindly sending us raw audiobook files. We do accept audiobooks for review but we prefer to commit to the review before accepting files.

About Negative Reviews
When we accept a review request, we promise a fair and honest assessment of the story. However, we ask our review team to write a text review if the book is 3+ stars only. For 1 or 2 star reviews, we ask that our reviewers still post at least their rating to Amazon, BookBub, and/or Goodreads. If they choose to write a text review, they may also post it to those platforms but it will not be published to the BookMojo book blog.
The spice level of a book is the level of sexually explicit content. BookMojo’s book blog features books which vary across the spectrum of spicy content. For the sake of giving our readers an accurate expectation of content, BookMojo uses the following scale:

A book review is not the same thing as a book report. The purpose of the BookMojo website is to help readers find books and help writers sell books. If our reviews are filled with spoilers, there is no reason for the reader to dive into the book because we’ve already told them what happened. All BookMojo reviews are required to be spoiler-free.
For the sake of marketability, all reviews on BookMojo are required to be profanity free. Please know that this was not always the case and we are working our way back through old reviews to edit their content for profane language.
