Ok, I cant review this book without mentioning how cool I think the author is. Years ago, I was a Buffy the Vampire Slayer addict. I have seen every episode of that show an obscene number of times. When I found out that Amber Benson, a.k.a. Willow’s witchy girlfriend Tara Maclay, was an author, I was ecstatic! I immediately Googled to my heart’s content to find out all I could and decided right away that I NEEDED to review one of her books. 
Death’s Daughter is the first installment in the Calliope Reaper-Jones series. Callie is your normal every day average girl with one teensy weensy exception – her dad is Death. As in the Grim Reaper. The basics of the novel are intriguing enough. When I started this book, I was also pleasantly surprised to find out that Callie’s character is hilarious to read. She’s funny, sarcastic, a little dorky and 100% relatable. Every person on this planet has some sort of issue with their parents. Even the nicest parents on the planet will occasionally make their children’s lives miserable – whether it be intentional or not.
Death’s Daughter introduces you to Callie’s world and quickly brings you up to speed. You are not left in the dark for too long on who Callie is and the goings-on leading up to the big reveal at the end of chapter one will have your literally laughing out loud.
This book is fast paced with non-stop action and mystery…..and one hell of an unexpected turn! I dont want to say too much because I want to avoid giving spoilers! Check out Death’s Daughter! You wont be disappointed. Overall I give this book 5 stars! I wasn’t disappointed at all and I cant wait to read the next in the series!

Have you read Cats Claw or Serpents Storm yet? I was youtube looking for interviews from Amber Benson. I was trying to get one in particular from her – trying to show a friend something. In the process, I found interviews about Death’s Daughter and so I started googling and even found a couple chapters on the web – just enough to get my skin to tingle. Anyways, I listened to her read a few chapters from her other two books as well and I can’t wait to get Death’s Daughter and start on the other two.
You told me that you got the audio book – where did you get that? I’m wondering if I can download from iTunes so I can put it on my iPhone – so i can listen to it at work.
I have not read the others yet. This was my first time ever reading anything by her. 🙂 But I will definitely move on with the series. It really is a fantastic read. In regards to the audiobook, I got my copy from Audible.com. You need a membership through them but it’s only $14.95/month and each month, you get 1 credit to pick any audiobook you want. Death’s Daughter is approximately $20 or you can buy it with 1 credit. If you’re going to do the audiobook, it’s definitely worth it! Amber reading the book gives you a clear picture of how she intended the scene to go. She’s a very animated narrator. 🙂
