Katie Malone and her twin boys’ trip along the beautiful mountain roads to Virgin River is stopped short by a tire as flat as her failed romance. To make matters worse, the rain has set in, the boys are hungry and Katie doesn’t have the first clue about putting on a spare. As she stands at the side of the road pondering her next move, she hears a distinct rumble. The sight of the sexy, leather-clad bikers who pull up beside her puts her imagination into overdrive.
Dylan Childress and his buddies are on the motorcycle trip of a lifetime. But the site of a woman in distress stops them in their tracks. And while the guys are checking out her car, she and Dylan are checking out one another. In one brief moment, the world tilts on its axis and any previous plans Katie and Dylan might have had for their futures are left at the side of the road.
Robyn Carr brings us back to Virgin River in Redwood Bend, the 18th book in herVirgin River series! Now, I know what you may be thinking….A LOT of series get tired out after 3-4 books. NOT this series! Robyn somehow manages to keep the series just as interesting in the 18th book as she did in the 1st book! Of course, I have my favorites in the series, but I haven’t read ONE of them yet that I’d give less than “4 Heels”! You fall in love with the small town, and all the residents in it!
Katie Malone has had quite a few obstacles to overcome in the past 5-6 years. Her husband died in Afghanistanwhile she was pregnant….with twins. Her brother Conner (book 17, Hidden Summit) witnessed a murder and as a result Katie and her twins had to relocate toVermont. Once the murder trial/fiasco is over, Katie decides to move closer to her brother since he is the father figure in her boys’ lives. After taking the boys on a quick Disney vacation, she drives toVirgin River….and gets a flat tire…on a dangerous curving road…in the rain. Katie is no shrinking violet. She knows HOW to change a tire….she just can’t get the lug nuts off to do so.
Dylan Childress, former bad boy/child star turned regular guy/Montana rancher/Small aircraft business owner is on a biking road trip with some friends when they come across a woman flagging for help. Dylan and friends help Katie change her tire, and they all go on their way. Dylan is just on this trip to get a break before figuring out how to save his business in the lagging economy. He doesn’t expect to have sparks fly with a woman, let alone a woman with kids!
Katie and Dylan inevitably bump into each other at Jack’s (the local bar/restaurant/town hang out) and of course, sparks fly. Dylan decides to stay behind when his friends ride out, so he can check local airports for ideas on his business, or so he tells himself. He spends more time hanging around Katie than anything.
After a movie roll, an aggressive Mama bear problem, and a big brother problem, Katie and Dylan figure out how to make it work. But….WHERE will they live? Virgin River, or Payne (Montana)??
I give Redwood Bend 4 1/2 Heels!
