REVIEW by @_Shoe_Girl_ : I've Got Your Number by Sophie Kinsella

I’ve lost it. The only thing in the world I wasn’t supposed to lose. My engagement ring. It’s been in Magnus’s family for three generations. And now, the very same day his parents are coming, I’ve lost it. The very same day. Do not hyperventilate Poppy. Stay positive!!

Poppy Wyatt has never felt luckier. She is about to marry the ideal man, Magnus Tavish, but in one afternoon her ‘happy ever after’ begins to fall apart. Not only has she lost her engagement ring but in the panic that followed, she has now lost her phone. As she paces shakily round the hotel foyer she spots an abandoned phone in a bin. Finders keepers! Now she can leave a number for the hotel to contact her when they find her ring. Perfect!

Well, perfect except the phone’s owner, businessman Sam Roxton doesn’t agree. He wants his phone back and doesn’t appreciate Poppy reading all his messages and wading into his personal life.

What ensues is a hilarious and unpredictable turn of events as Poppy and Sam increasingly upend each other’s lives through emails and text messages. As Poppy juggles wedding preparations, mysterious phone calls and hiding her left hand from Magnus and his parents… she soon realizes that she is in for the biggest surprise of her life.

I love Sophie Kinsella when I’m in the mood for a fast, quirky, read.  I’ve read a few of her books now, although not the super popular Shopaholic series (I didn’t LOVE the movie, so I’m not anxious for the books).  While all the books of hers I’ve read take place in England, which I have no desire to visit, I really love the insane scenarios that the characters end up in.

I’ve Got Your Number puts Poppy Wyatt in quite the predicament when she loses her engagement ring (which is an expensive family heirloom) after letting friends try it on.  Poppy goes crazy looking all over the carpet, tables, bathrooms and trashes of the hotel she was in when she lost it.  All searches come up with nothing.  Panicking, she goes outside to use her phone, when it is stolen right out of her hands.  She is FREAKING.  The hotel has THAT number to contact if they find the ring.  As she is in panic mode, she sees a cell phone in a trash bin.  An ACTIVE cell phone.  She figures “finders keepers” and adopts the phone.

Sam Roxton has lost ANOTHER personal assistant.  This one with absolutely no notice, and after only 3 weeks on the job.  So why, exactly is some stranger answering his PA’s company phone?

Poppy and Sam end up “sharing” the phone.  Sam, obviously is reluctant, however, how else is he going to get the phone back?  Poppy tells him she will return the phone as soon as her ring is found, and in the meantime will forward all incoming business emails/texts.  As you can guess, some hilarious antics arise while they are working out the kinks of sharing a cell phone, dealing with wedding preparations (Poppy), and business complications (Poppy AND Sam).

Definitely not “heavy” reading.  It is quick, and funny!  **ONE thing that annoyed me, was the “footnotes” throughout the book.  Those were annoying, but easy to ignore.
