Redemption isn’t a word Jim Heron knows much about-his specialty is revenge, and to him, sin is all relative. But everything changes when he becomes a fallen angel and is charge with saving the souls of seven people from the seven deadly sins. And failure is not an option. Vin DiPietro long ago sold his soul to his business, and he’s good with that-until fate intervenes in the form of a tough- talking, Harley-riding, self-professed savior. But then he meets a woman who will make him question his destiny, his sanity, and his heart-and he has to work with a fallen angel to win her over and redeem his own soul.
Covet has been sitting on my tbr pile for years, I honestly didn’t want to read it. Sounds  stupid you say well you’d be right…but, and here is my reason, I didn’t want to be disappointed. I looooooove the BDB series, I really do and I count down the days till the next one comes out and usually devour them in a single sitting and if I am honest I have never been disappointed.
Soooooo one day on Goodreads I decided to participate in a buddy read program, you  know where a stranger looks through your tbr pile and recommends a book for you and they picked Covet for me so it was time to bite the bullet and actually read the damn book. Did I like it you ask…well sorta. The story is about Jim Heron an ex military special ops whatever who dies when he is electrocuted, he is sent back to help Vin make the right decision and redeem his own soul.
While reading this I couldn’t help but make comparisons to BDB as some of the  characters and places cross over into this series and I loved Lassiter from BDB, who incidentally isn’t in this book.  While I know the comparison is probably unfair I can’t help it, it’s the same author and setting dammit! Sadly Covet wasn’t anywhere near as good. The characters weren’t as rich or interesting, Jim or Vin certainly weren’t Brotherhood material, hell they weren’t even as interesting as minor characters in BDB. The dialogue wasn’t as good either, yes yes I know BDB is a cheesy mess but it’s a really good cheesy mess.
The plots in Ms Ward’s book are far from complicated and this is no exception but they do move along at a good pace and keep me interested in seeing what happens next and much to her credit she can write a really good sex scene and you get that here too. If this was written by anybody else I probably would have liked it better. Unfair…you betcha, but she has written soooooo much better stuff that I can’t help it. Will I read another in this series, probably but not today. Cuz there’s a new BDB installment coming out tomorrow and I need that fix first :).
3/5Â Â Â Sorry I liked BDB better

sweetie, this is the Fallen Angel series, not BDB. Same author though
Odd. When I looked it up on the author’s website, it was listed under the BDB series. I will get it edited. đŸ™‚
I agree that BDB is better but this is a decent series. If BDB is 5 then this is a 3.5.
