Out of this series so far, Hunting Ground was definitely my favorite installment!
We are brought back into the world of Anna and Charles just a month after Cry Wolf ended. The pressing matter of the wolves needing to get ahead of the bullet and “come out” to the public is a major hot point in their ranks. The Marrok has already made his decision but as a concession to the European wolves, he’s arranged a conference in Seattle so that their concerns can be heard.
The thing I love most about this series is the tension. It’s not sexual tension or anything. It’s because of the pack mentality. Everything about dominant versus submissive wolves and alphas versus non-alphas. With these creatures constantly on the cusp of severe violence, their every encounter is tense and volatile.
Well, take that little issue and picture this – a large scale meeting of alphas from around the world. Alphas that don’t all particularly like each other. It’s a sensitive situation and made for an incredibly exciting piece in the series! We have ulterior motives flying around all willy nilly. Mix that with aggression and already present mistrust and you have yourself a fantastic book cocktail – filled with lots of action and mysteries that you will never see coming.
On top of that, we have the story of Anna and Charles – the story I love sooooo much. That “warm glow” I referenced in my previous review is still there. It hasn’t been very long so she certainly still has issues but she’s trying to work through them. And Charles, Mr I’m-Uber-Patient-Because-I’m-Over-200-Years-Old is all good with the waiting. He’s a perfect match for her, a woman so damaged that she has trouble seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. He stands by her. He’s there for her. He does what he can to help her work through her “stuff”. They have a great break through moment in this book that is so incredibly sweet that I just wanted to cry.
There’s also a moment in this book where I was cheering for Anna! I wanted to just jump up and yell “f**kin’ right!!!”. You’ll be proud of her. It was an epic moment!!
And the creepiest moment in this entire book:
“Anna Latham Cornick, mate of Charles Cornick, Omega of the Aspen Creek Pack. Wolf. Sister. Daughter. Lover. Beloved…”
Trust me, once you read the book, you’ll know what I am talking about and you’ll be seriously creeped the eff out too!
Overall, I am giving Hunting Ground 5 stars! This was a wonderful read from beginning to end!

Iv had cry wolf and hunting ground for over a year now and haven’t read it yet…but I will! Your review really makes me want to:)
The series is soooooo good but you definitely want to start with the novella that’s in On The Prowl first. Otherwise, you’ll be scratching your head wondering what is going on. 🙂
