REVIEW by Heather: The Ghost and the Graveyard by Genevieve Jack (@Genevieve_Jack , @_Shoe_Girl_)

Life is full of difficult decisions! Left destitute by an unscrupulous ex-boyfriend, Grateful Knight takes her father up on his offer to live rent-free in a house he hasn’t been able to sell. Desperate to make a new start, Grateful tries to overlook the property’s less desirable features, like the graveyard that stretches to her back door. On the bright side, the unbelievably gorgeous cemetery caretaker, Rick, is dead set on helping her feel at home. She vows to take things slow, considering her recent disastrous relationship, but is baffled when she literally can’t keep her hands off of him. When things in Grateful’s house start moving on their own, another man enters her life—a sexy ghost with a dark secret. Magical forces are at work in the tiny town of Red Grove and they’re converging on Grateful. Solving this ghostly mystery won’t be easy and with the caretaker becoming increasingly jealous of her spectral relationship, Grateful will be forced to choose between the ghost and the graveyard.

 The Ghost and the Graveyard

Grateful (yes, that’s her real, legal name) moves into her dad’s house as a caretaker of sorts (keep the house clean for prospective buyers) in exchange for living rent-free.  Sounds perfect considering her jerk of an ex has left her broke.  She can deal with her backyard being a graveyard, can’t she?  Grateful means to concentrate on work, and getting her feet back underneath her.  Sounds good until she discovers that she has….. roommates (one of which is very hot, even if he isn’t technically alive).  And, until she realizes that her only neighbor is a gorgeous caretaker of another kind.  His name is Rick, and he is the graveyard caretaker.

Rick knows all about Grateful even before she speaks one word to him.  He has been patiently awaiting her, and he isn’t sure how much longer he can wait.  He is not happy to be “sharing” her with her roommate, and wants nothing more than to have Grateful all to himself.

Logan (one of Grateful’s roomies) falls for Grateful, and shows his affection by cooking for her, making her the perfect cup of coffee every morning, and by great conversations on their “dates”.  Logan hates Rick as much as Rick hates him, and he will do everything in his limited power to make Grateful realize that Rick isn’t being 100% truthful with her, and is in fact, keeping some very important information from her.

I must say, I enjoyed this book a lot more than I expected to!  Witches/Vampires/Ghosts/Etc, Romance, and battles?  Yeah, pretty awesome!  😉  Only disappointment…..book 2 isn’t out yet, and I can’t find a release date online, so who knows how long we’ll have to wait to find out what happens next.
