I fell from the Talmadge Bridge the week before I turned thirty.
I was given a choice: Go to Heaven. Go back to my life in Savannah. Or spend eternity fighting evil under the direction of the archangels.
I chose the demons–and the angels.
I chose the Winged.
Oh my gosh. Oh my gosh. LADIES and gentlemen, you will absolutely become addicted to this series.
Ms Pruitt allowed me to be a Beta reader for Winged. And I mean allowed. This was a privilege for me to read. I love Ms Pruitt’s other series, Jude Magdalyn. I had read a teaser for Winged in one of those books and it seems like I’ve been waiting FOREVER! I did the initial read back in September and I made all my friends hate me. I went on and on about how excellent Winged was but wouldn’t tell them anything except, you HAVE to read this book.
Absolutely unique and fantastic novel. I’ve re-read Winged at least once a month since I received it. Yes, truly. I always find something new. This is one of the best plotted novels I’ve ever read. A completely new approach to Angels. Angel boot camp anyone?
Since we don’t give any spoilers if at all possible, this review is very hard to do. You can tell from the synopsis what Winged is about so how about a bit more insight into the main character, Joanne Watson.
“I had normal. And I wanted more.
I wanted adventure. Excitement. Anything to prove I wasn’t ordinary. Because in my mind, in my ignorance — or innocence, which term is correct would be debatable — being normal meant I’d failed. That I meant nothing.
I wanted to mean something, Anything.
I think I can safely say I was a fool.
You don’t appreciate normal until it’s gone.”…..
and one more: …
“I laughed, the sound tinged with faintest of hysteria. ‘Did you take a look at my life? Dying was the best thing to happen to me. I never want to go back.’
She shook her head, thumped the stamp firmly onto the paper. ‘Foolish, foolish girl.'”
Hooked yet? Okay, strong wonderful characters, fast pacing, tight storyline and oh yeah, hot, steamy to die for sex scenes. The characters you want to hate are so bad that you almost end up liking them. The good characters are so good that you do get very angry with them and want to smack them. That tells me Ms Pruitt did her job and did it well. So well, in fact, I stayed up all night reading the dang thing.
The pacing, plotting, story line, characters and world building are almost….heavenly. (sorry couldn’t resist).
I’m on my band wagon for this series. As I said, I love the Jude Magdalyn Series but, Winged, I’m addicted. Absolutely cannot wait for the next in the trilogy!!
Any doubts, you know me and my skimpy ratings:
My rating: 5 STARS
