This book is a series of emails between friends and online dates. At first I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it enough to finish it but kept reading and it actually grew on me. It’s amazing how emails can tell a story.
Renee Greene is a young professional PR person with a lackluster love life. A close male friend of hers talks her into joining him in online dating. She reluctantly decides to try it.She has two other close friends that she emails with also. The story of her adventures in online dating plays out with all of these friends and the dates or prospective dates. Of course there are the requisite bad or even horribly bad dates. She also falls in love a couple of times during the book. Not telling what happens with that! Her best friend Shelley might as well be named Samantha Jones as she totally reminded me of that character from Sex and the City-totally promiscuous. She provides some of the comic relief in the book but I totally pictured a young Samantha throughout the book.
I liked that I really felt I knew the characters by the end, which since the story is told in emails was really different. What I wish had been different? There’s a really nice guy that just happens to be a celebrity that I really liked. However she had started dating someone else and really doesn’t give him a chance and he was WAY more interesting to me(a rock star) then who Renee finds interesting. The one she falls for just seems kind of immature and controlling which is shown in a really stupid fight via email. And the big thing that bothered me? The book just kind of ends. I was trying to turn pages on my Kindle and there wasn’t anymore pages and I was left just kind of saying huh? I give it 3.5 stars because it actually was an enjoyable fast read.
