REVIEW by Dolly: Blood Trade (Jane Yellowrock #6) by Faith Hunter – Released 4/2/13 (@hunterfaith , @Fidget78)

Jane Yellowrock is a shape-shifting skinwalker who’s always up for a fight—even if it means putting her life on the line…

The Master of Natchez, Mississippi has a nasty problem on his hands. Rogue vampires—those who follow the Naturaleza and believe that humans should be nothing more than prey to be hunted—are terrorizing his city. Luckily, he knows the perfect skinwalker to call in to take back the streets.

But what he doesn’t tell Jane is that there’s something different about these vamps. Something that makes them harder to kill—even for a pro like Jane. Now, her simple job has turned into a fight to stay alive…and to protect the desperately ill child left in her care.

Blood Trade (Jane Yellowrock _6) - Faith Hunter

I love this series. Ms Hunter, Jane, and Beast are fantastic. I was frustrated reading this novel as life kept intruding. Usually I block out enough time to read a new Jane book in two sittings. The interruptions were killing me. You never know when you might miss something important. Ms Hunter’s clues have a tendency to hide…..lips zipped. Lol

What I like:  In Blood Trade, we see Jane and Beast in a different light. I always think of Jane as a very self-assured loner. Last book, Death’s Rival, Eli and “the kid” were introduced. I liked them both right away but wasn’t sure they would all fit together. I’m sure now. They are all a great fit!!  Jane is not a loner anymore. As for Beast, well, Beast is having her own problems and they are with the Master Of The City (MOC) of New Orleans.  ‘Nuff said.

The relationships are still a complicated. Hot and steamy, but complicated. Jane/Beast is very drawn to Rick and Bruiser. I honestly don’t know who I’m routing for in this triangle. Both men would drive me to distraction and both come with baggage. Ms Hunter is kind enough to throw a new wrench in the Jane-Bruiser situation. Oy vey!! (Yes, I had to look the spelling up)

The descriptions in this novel make you feel as if you really are on the street and seeing the surroundings. The words paint a great picture. The storyline is moving forward and there is a surprise visitor that will knock your socks off.

What I didn’t like:  I thought the solution to the vampire problem was too easy. But, and this is just me thinking out loud, Ms Hunter likes to play with her readers. She always does something unexpected.

I’m wondering how long we have to wait for the next installment. I usually drop everything for a Jane Yellowrock book. (From the “gossip” on line is the next book is about 9 months out and will be called Black Arts)

My rating:  4.25 Stars
