REVIEW by Lorna: Hunter’s Moon (Moonlight #2) by Lisa Kessler (@LdyDisney , @Mollykatie112)

91igV5uQMRL._SL1500_Sasha’s future was stolen from her the moment she was bitten. Now she’s on the run from the Nero Organization that transformed her from a human detective into a shape shifting jaguar assassin.

When a rogue bounty hunter threatens her younger sister, she’ll be forced to fight, and with nowhere else to turn, Sasha will need to trust the one man who has every reason to want her dead.

Aren is a werewolf with a secret. While protecting his twin brother and Alpha of the Pack, he found his one mate for life. Sadly she’s also the jaguar assassin who tried to kill them both. Now Aren is struggling between his animal nature to love and protect her, and his loyalty to the Pack.

Like a good romantic shifter series? I do, and after reading Moonlight, the first in this series, I immediately bought this one. Not because of a cliffhanger, but because there was so much more I still wanted to know about these characters.

This one features Sasha, the jaguar assassin from the last book, that worked for Nero. Nero is a secret agency that does shifter experiments on people, with or without their knowledge or approval. The other main character is Aren, Adam’s twin brother who one of the main characters from the first book. Sasha was pretty much one of the vilians from the last book. She actually shot Aren, and helped set up the fight that kills the pack alpha, who was also Aren and Adam’s father. Needless to say, Sasha didn’t win any points with the wolf pack. So the fact that Aren knew Sasha was his mate the first time he had skin contact with her, makes for an interesting premise, and also helped move the story along.

Sasha was an interesting character. As a human cop that gets bit by a Nero jaguar and is taken by Nero to use as an assassin, her life is not her own. All of this was against her will, but when she is promised a “cure” she does what she is told. Aren, as brother to the alpha, has three enemies, and they are, Nero, jaguars, and Sasha in particular. And none of that matters to him after realizing she is his mate.

I always enjoy a Lisa Kessler book. I love paranormal romance, and she knows how to write a good one. Her characters are always well realized, her premises well plotted, and this book was no different. There’s also lots of action, and life and death moments. Since it is a series, we get to see the characters from the last book and that’s always a plus in a series for me. Adam is now the alpha since he was the first born of the twins, and after he becomes alpha, he now has certain abilities that come with the title. Just an example of the good world building that Ms. Kessler always includes in her stories.

The third book in this series, Blood Moon, is coming out later this month, and I already have it to read soon. This is good news as this series just gets better as it goes.

I recommend this book, and series to all adult, paranormal romance fans, but I would definitely start with the first one, as they do go in order.
