Demon Princess is an interesting twist on fantasy and paranormal. Adriana’s fate is abruptly sidetracked when a mage’s summon spell goes awry. Now she’s trapped, and things get even worse when she comes face to face with the three heroes who are destined to be her enemies. If they discover who she is, she’s toast.
I read this in a couple of days, partly because it’s a short book, but also because it really drew me along. I wanted to find out what happened next, and then next, and so on. I was pleasantly surprised by a touch of romance, sweet and seemingly doomed. That, and Adriana’s predicament, made this fun. I also enjoyed the hints of lore and legend and some of the magic, though they could have used more detail.
On the other hand, and despite the engaging story, I found the narration to be choppy in places and some of the wording to be repetitive. I also found the verb tense and usage to be a bit awkward, especially as they tend to wander. The writing is good, for the most part, and the story is engaging, but the editing needs work.
Overall, I enjoyed this book, and I’d recommend it to folks who enjoy YA fantasy with some clean romance. Once it’s polished up a bit, it will be an awesome read.
