Living Dead in Dallas is the 2nd installment of the Sookie Stackhouse series. In this book, Sookie finds herself and her abilities in the service of Eric Northman again. Sookie gets called to Fangtasia for a meeting with the handsome vampire. On her way there, Sookie gets attacked by a mysterious creature and comes within moments of losing her life. Thanks to the Shreveport vamps and Bill, she manages to recover, only to be told that she now needs to go to Dallas to aid the sheriff of Area 6 in a search for a vampire that has gone missing from his nest. The belief it that the vampire has been abducted and they need Sookieās help to find out who has him and where heās being kept. With Bill in tow as a body guard for the trip, Sookie ends up on an adventure that will leave you breathless at moments.
As with the first book in this series, I was highly impressed. This installment in the series provides non-stop action from cover to cover. My only issue with this book is the ācreatureā that attacks Sookie is part of a bigger story line that should have been explained better. I feel that maybe this story line should have been left out as after the Dallas trip, as it feels like it was just an afterthought to try to tie up loose ends from the beginning of the book. Although I donāt like to compare the book to the show, as they are two totally different animals, if youāre a True Blood fan, you will immediately pick up on what I am talking about upon reading this book. True Blood shines a much brighter light on the events that I am referring to. However, if you are a True Blood fan, you may also be upset when you read this book as one of the staple characters on the show actually dies at the very beginning of this book.
All in all, there is action, mystery, comedy and, of course some steamy scenes. I give this one 4.5 stars!
