REVIEW: The Great Convergence by Joseph Lallo (@jrlallo)

The Great Convergence continues the tale of young Myranda Celeste. With fresh knowledge of magic and steadfast resolve to see the end of the war that plagues her land, Myranda sets out to find and unite the five fated heroes, the Chosen. Each new warrior brings her world a step closer to peace, but does she have the strength to survive the trials ahead?

The story picks up with Myranda leaving Entwell, the peaceful paradise dedicated to furthering mystical knowledge.  Already having learned quite a bit at (an incredible rate), Myranda is a much different person than she was the day she arrived.  She is hardly the girl she was the day she, Lain and sweet little Myn entered the cave.

The Great Convergence follows Myranda as she continues her journey on the path to bring the Chosen together.  Myranda believes that she is the key to making sure they get together and she’s not willing to take the chance on whether or not she’s right.

One of the things that I loved the most about this book is you get a chance to see just how much Myranda has grown since the girl she was when we were introduced at the beginning of The Book of Deacon.  You watch her mature and watch her view of the world around her change so drastically.

The other thing I loved about this book is there are so many jaw-dropping twist and turns that you never know what to expect!  I spent a good portion of this book in shock and awe.  One of the events will infuriate you.  One will make you want to cry (get out your box of tissues because this one is ROUGH).  One will make you smile from ear to ear.  None will disappoint.

There are several very well written battle scenes in The Great Convergence as well.  Battle scenes are always something that I have trouble getting through because I feel that a lot of authors write them in such a way that about half-way through, they are very hard to follow.  Mr. Lallo did a fantastic job writing the fight scenes!  There wasn’t a single moment where I had to go back and re-read a section because he lost me in the middle of a battle.

Overall, this was a fantastic book and a seamless continuation of the series.  The storyline flows perfectly from arc to arc.  As with The Book of Deacon, this book leaves you with the cliffhanger from hell so be prepared and have the third book, The Battle of Verill, at the ready.  I’ve already started it and I cant wait to see if my theory is confirmed (I cant say what the theory is because that’ll give away too much detail).  I am excited and happy to say that The Great Convergence gets 5 stars!

Im half way through the second book. I have reached the death of Myn, and am extremely desperate to find out whether or not she really is dead. I can’t read on without knowing. My dad recommended these books to me but is unwilling to give away any details. Need a hasty reply 🙂 Thanks in advance to anyone who replies <3
