REVIEW by @mamaxsix : Bypass Gemini by Joseph Lallo (@jrlallo)

In a distant future, Trevor “Lex” Alexander was shaping up to be the next great race pilot until a fixed race got him banned from the sport. Reduced to making freelance deliveries, he thinks his life can’t get any worse. That’s when a package manages to get him mixed up with mobsters, a megacorp, and a mad scientist. Now his life depends on learning what their plans are, and how he can stop them.

I never thought of myself as a sci-fi kinda book reader. Now I do! This book introduces us to Lex; a guy who is by all means has no idea where he is heading at this point in his life. So, he gets himself locked out of his apartment, seeked after by the mob, and chased after many, many times by guys who are trying to kill him. Not to mention a harsh slap in the face by his ex.
For this being my first sci-fi book (and honestly the only reason I read it, is because I really enjoyed Joseph Lallo’s fantasy series) I got lost in some of the galactic language and such. But I do appreciate those who understand it, and I’m going make a point of trying to. It was nice that Lex got lost in the details too. It was also extremely funny and full of action- which I really liked.
Being a mom of six, I tend to “rate” things. So, to me this is a solid PG-13. The language is a bit harsh. No f-bombs or crude language, but plenty of the lesser ones. And, being a conservative Christian the use of God in various places was annoying. And it does have a few instances of “maleness” and porn is brought up. Two things that I care not to explain to my 11 yr old son at the moment. (his time is coming…)
All in all. 5 stars. It’s clever, fun, has enough gripping oh my gosh how is he going to get out of this one scenarios… it’ll keep the reader tuned in and anxious for more. The only thing I wanted to do when I wasn’t reading it was to read it! I’m looking forward to book 2. Unstable Prototypes.
