REVIEW by Jena: Inner Demons (Peachville High Demons Book 2) by Sarra Cannon (@sarramaria)

Becoming a Demons cheerleader was the last thing Harper Madison expected when she moved to the small town of Peachville. Now that she’s an official member of the squad, her training can begin. Only, this is no normal group of cheerleaders. The training opens up a new world for Harper. It’s a world of beauty and magic beyond her wildest dreams, but also a world of pressure and impossible expectations.

A world where every secret hides an even darker secret.

Inner Demons is the second installment in the Peachville High Demon series. As I said in my review of book 1, I happened upon this series completely by chance. Well, the author was nice enough to send me all of the installments in the series up to the current and I am going to review each of them.

Inner Demons picks up where Beautiful Demons (Book 1) left off. Our main character has been tapped by the Peachville Demons cheerleading squad and her whole life has changed. There is so much more to the cheerleading sqaud than Harper ever could have imagined.

As Harper delves deeper into this new found world, the stakes keep going higher and higher. The more info she learns about her new found friends and their deep, dark secrets, the more dangerous her life is becoming.

So, I hate Drake. I mean, I reaaaaaaaally hate Drake. By the midway point in this book, you will hate him too.

Now, Jackson is a different story. The ever mysterious presence in the first book is here for the second book as well. However, this time around, we are given a bit of a peek into his back story so a sliver of his story is revealed. I dont want to spoil anything but I can tell you that by the end of this book, you’re going to LOVE Jackson as a character but you are going to be riddled with confusion because you wont know whether or not you should love Jackson. It’s all very confusing but it’s a lot of fun to read.

One of the things I love about this series so far is that the mythology of the series keeps morphing. Well, not really morphing. As Harper digs down to find the truth, she’s just finding that the puzzle gets more and more intricate. The author did a great job avoiding story potholes. Everything is filled in and nothing feels conveniently placed. I know nothing about the origins of this series but it has the feel of a series that was very well planned out. The continuity flows very well.

As with the first book in the series, the plot of this installment flows perfectly and what you end up with is a very fast paced story line. Now that we have already been through the “getting to know you” phase of the series, this installment is almost 100% story. Although it is the same length of a book, it seems like there is so much more meat to this book. The plot is much more involved.

Overall, I am giving Inner Demons 5 stars. Excellent addition to the series and I cant wait to continue on!

On a side note, I love the cover art for this series! It really is gorgeous!
