Ok, this was sitting in my tbr pile for ages and it sat there for that long because well between the title and the cover and even the blurb on the back all I thought was…ugh (pardon the pun…completely unintentional) this is going to be another cheesy romance. I have a love/hate relationships with PNR I either love it or absolutely hate it, not much in the way of middle ground. I really expected to hate this book and wow was I surprised when not only did I not hate it I freaking loved it! Another reviewer called “Buffy meets ER”, and actually that’s pretty accurate.
You have Tayla, the take no prisoners kick ass chick who was raised to believe all demons are evil, one of them tortured and killed her mother now she is part of the Aegi and their purpose is to slay all demons. While fighting a demon her partner is killed and Tayla is knocked out and wakes up in UGH (Underworld General Hospital). It is at UGH that Tayla’s black and white world starts to change and she begins to realize that the bad guys may not be all bad and the good guys definitely weren’t all good.
Enter hottie demon doctor Eidolon…yumm. Eidolon is an uber sexy Dr and founder of UGH, he is also a Seminus demon. Seminus demons are incubus/incubi…whatever, that when they reach their 100th year go through a transition, if they aren’t already mated they end up crazy horny and trying to bed every woman in site, willing or not. Needless to say Eidolon wants no part of this and has been trying to find a mate, ya see where this is going right.
The world building was amazing, LI did a fantastic job of creating the different type of demon races and a really intriguing cast of supporting characters, Eidolon has him some hot brothers! There was plenty of twists and turns that kept me flipping pages to see what came next. The sex scenes between Eidolon and Tayla were…um…hot and with none of the “sheathing his manhood” I was expecting. I don’t want to give away spoiler but the whole unable to orgasm and how it was handled was extremely well done.
So yep, not only did a grab the second book but I’ve already finished and am half way through the third. Yes I read much faster than I write review…don’t judge me I fully admit my addiction to reading hot books. The series did remind me of the BDB by JR Ward while still being very original and if you’re a fan of BDB like me you will enjoy the Demonica series. Btw books two and three are amazing too!

Sounds great! What would you rate the sex scenes? I LOVED Buffy, but season 6 was almost too much…. 😉
