I am not a short story person. I usually see collection of short stories and ignore them. So I was pleasantly surprised at how very readable and engrossing this story was. This is the story of a vampire named Lucas. He is very old, very jaded and spends his time with a different girl every night. He meets the love of his life, Natalia one night and his life is completely changed. It is a very good love story that goes terribly wrong.
The author has created a world where vampires and witches are commonplace-and demons not so much. Natalia is a witch and the new record keeper for a large coven in Venice. Hidden in her records is a secret that could change the world. It certainly changes Lucas’s and Natalia’s’ world.
When I finished the story-such a quick easy read-I was saying NO-where’s the rest of it? I can’t wait to find out what the future holds in the first actual book of this series,The Devil You Know. I give it 4.5 stars only because I wanted more!
