Mary moves from Berkley, California to Florida and to say she isn’t prepared for what awaits her is an understatement. Mary goes from a 22 year old crunchy, artsy, innocent, virgin who was raised by her grandmother (and, to a lesser extent, her father) to the owner of a sex toy shop when her mother dies, leaving Mary owning a house, the sex shop, and a bar. As if this isn’t enough to deal with all at once, Mary’s two business “partners”, Max, and John are both super gorgeous and have Mary questioning her virginity. Max gives Mary an unexpected glimpse into spontaneous sex, while John teaches her about anticipation.
I liked the book, it was a quick read. I didn’t love the lack of character development, but for me that comes with every short story I’ve ever read….even those by my favorite authors. I started book two last night, and can’t wait to find out what comes next (pun intended) for Mary!
