NEW RELEASE REVIEW by Lorna : Tasagalt – Cross of the South (Arash #3) by Elke Schuster (@Mollykatie112)

He is evil and cruel, killing humans as well as immortal Arash in cold blood, yet an invisible bond seems to link Livia to Eamon.
She seems to have it all, but the search for her mother Rebecca sets disastrous events in motion. Suddenly it’s Livia who guards dark secrets, who hides the truth from her friends. Hurt to the core by Cassius’ infatuation for another girl, which causes him to turn even against his closest friends, she alienates herself from her Arash family and becomes an outsider once again. Will she inevitably lose everything – her love, her family, her life – by defying all Arash laws? Or will her courage and impulsiveness open up unimaginable worlds before her?

I am going to start this by saying that I love this series. The first in the series, Arash, Shadow Hunt, was so good that I literally couldn’t stop reading it. These books are about a secret group of supernatural beings that live among humans. The group look like shadows to humans, unless they want humans to actually see them. They originate from the stars and live together in families. And as with so many other supernatural beings, they are immortal. The beings start out as human and are altered, but only after a process, which I won’t go into here.

What I liked about this book:
The characters. Since this is the 3rd in this series, I have gotten to know each of the characters pretty well. And for the most part I like them. Of course there’s always a villain,or in this case, a couple of villains, and while you don’t like them-well that’s the whole purpose of a good villain isn’t it? So they are in the the good column for me too.

The premise. The beings in these books are just so different from most books I read. They look human, and enjoy human pursuits at times, but they live really different lives. But even in their world, jealousy and revenge still flourishes. This installment really highlights both of those things.
The continuation of the story: We get more answers in this book, specifically about Livia’s mother, which is good since the cliffhanger at the end of the second book concerned that. Livia is getting more and more of her powers also. There’s magic involved in this book as well.

What I didn’t like about this book:
The book was well written, with a great premise, good characters, and is a good third installment of this story. I honestly can’t think of anything that goes in this column.

Who would I recommend this book to:
Anyone that enjoys paranormal/science fiction books. There is a romance involved, this time with problems(those pesky villains)but the romance is ongoing from book 1. There’s no sexual scenes, although some are implied, so I think older young adults would like this as well as adults.

If you haven’t started this series, I can definitely recommend it. As I said before, I doubt you would be able to put the first book down once you start reading. There’s only one book left in the series and I am really wondering how it’s all going to end.
