NEW RELEASE REVIEW by Damien: Lost In Starlight (Starlight Saga #1) by Sherry Soule (@SherrySoule)

Lost In StarlightHigh school is tough. Romance with a sexy alien–even tougher.
Star reporter Sloane Masterson knows she has one helluva story when she witnesses hottie Hayden Lancaster bending forks with his mind.
Like any good journalist, Sloane sets out to uncover the truth, even if it includes a little stalking. When the superhuman feats start to pile up and the undeniable heat rises between them, Hayden has no choice but to reveal his secret: he’s an alien hybrid.
They’re as different as night and day–she’s a curvy, purple-haired, horror junkie and he’s a smoking hot, antisocial, brainiac–yet the intense fascination between them refuses to go away. Even at Hayden’s insistence that dating each other is “off limits” and dangerous, their fiery attraction threatens to go supernova.
Now Sloane’s dealing with creepy government agents, übersnobby extraterrestrials, and a psycho alien ex-girlfriend out for revenge. After a crash course on the rules of interstellar dating, Sloane must decide if their star-crossed romance is worth risking her own life….

Sloane Masterson would never consider herself “normal”. As a high schooler, she was not a part of those skinny, clique chicks who pranced around her school whispering and giggling amongst themselves. Nope, she was a Nerd with a pen and she wasn’t afraid to use it. Being a writer for the school paper she was given the assignment of a lifetime…
To interview the dreamiest boy in school, Hayden Lancaster… Wait, “Dreamiest” isn’t the word for what he is, hes’ hot, he’s cool, and he’s utterly mysterious. Apart from the newspaper story, she’s longing to get to know more about him especially after witnessing things that are completely Impossible for normal people to do. Sloane feels a lot like a insect drawn to a bug zapper when ever he’s around, but it’s going to take a lot of influencing him that he can talk to her for her to find out what she’s wanting to know. As an avid lover of scary movies, Sloane feels like she’s caught up in her own movie plot as she makes the moves she feels necessary to figure out this enigma that she can’t keep her eyes or thoughts off of, but the true question to be answered …
Can she handle the truth and the unseen dangers that may come from getting to know more about Hayden and his family.
What I enjoyed about this book was the speed of it… it began a little slow, but that gave us a little room to learn a little more about Sloane’s almost perfect family *how she looked at them* and her little circle of friends. We also get to learn more about her quirky thoughts about the cliches of old fashion horror movies as she drops a little blurb from her movie reviewer blog. This is definitely a Young Adult book and thanks to the light language parents who love to let their kids read will not have to worry too much over this one.
The main thing that I didn’t like is that its a little predictable, but then again I blame that on being not of the YA reading class and I’ve seen a few stories in my time. Its a great story to get young readers reading and I look forward to seeing more from Sherry Soule as this series continues.
For those who enjoy reading young adult books this one is right there along the lines of Twilight… Harry Potter… Hunger Games… Divergent … the plot is groovy because it doesn’t include Witches, Werewolves or Glowing Vampires, but as you read you’ll definitely want to know…
What is the Hayden Lancaster’s family secret … Good reading to you all!
