NEW RELEASE REVIEW by Lorna: The Storm (The Storm #3.5) by Samantha Towle (@samtowlewrites , @Mollykatie112)

The StormTHE STORM is a CONTEMPORARY ROMANCE NOVELLA from the New York Times, Wall Street Journal and USA Today Bestselling author of THE MIGHTY STORM.
STORM (noun)—a turbulent disturbance; a disruption or dispute.
Jake Wethers’s life is perfect. He’s married to the woman he’s always loved, and they have three beautiful children. The Mighty Storm is still going strong, and his record label is thriving.
Jake has everything—a life he thought he would never have and one that he didn’t think he deserved.
Not so long ago, Jake’s life wasn’t perfect. The unexpected and untimely death of his best friend, Jonny Creed, sent an already out-of-control Jake spiraling down further.
Drug addiction. Alcohol. Women.
Jake was in the fast lane to following Jonny to the grave until Tru Bennett walked back into his life and changed everything.
But now, the past that Jake left behind has come back to find him. And what the past brings with it is going to be one of the biggest challenges he has ever faced.
Note: The Storm is a novella following on from the international bestselling Storm series. It is advisable to read The Mighty Storm and Wethering the Storm before reading The Storm. Taming the Storm does not need to be read to understand the novella, but if read, it will enhance the reading element.

This novella is for fans of this author’s, Storm Series. In The Mighty Storm, Jake, a rocker with the mega famous group of that name, finds Tru again, the only girl he ever loved when he was young. They were best friends back then and both lived in England, until Jake moved to America. Tru is a music journalist and meets Jake again because of that position. Long story short, they are now married. It’s fifteen years later and life has been really good to Tru and Jake. But back in the beginning of the band, things were a lot different. Jake’s best friend and band mate, Jonny, was killed in an accident and Jake and the rest of the band members never got over his death. While he was never a character in the books, the reader is very aware of him as he is mentioned in each book and had an impact on all the band members, and Jake in particular.
I am not going to tell much about the premise except to say that someone from Jake and Jonny’s past comes back and disrupts the life that Jake and Tru has built. This made the read emotional, especially for fans of this series. In fact, if you haven’t read at least the first of these books, this book is not for you, because you would probably be totally lost. The Mighty Storm still stands as my favorite all time rocker read and that’s saying a lot for me. If rocker reads are your thing, that book is a must read.
Tru and Jake are one of my favorite fictional couples, the kind you wished really existed. Samantha Towle is an expert at writing good characters and story lines that draw the reader into the story, never letting go until the final page, and this novella is not any different. At 109 pages, I read it in one sitting. It is just one last chapter in Tru and Jake’s lives, one that we didn’t know we were going to get. I loved the whole thing and I highly recommend this and the entire series to adult romance readers.
