NEW RELEASE REVIEW by Lorna: Cream of the Crop (Hudson River Valley #2) by Alice Clayton (@Alice_Clayton , @Mollykatie112)

Cream of the CropNew York Times and USA TODAY bestselling author Alice Clayton brings her trademark blend of funny and sexy to this second contemporary romance in the brand-new Hudson Valley series!
Manhattan’s It Girl, Natalie Grayson, has it all: she’s a hot exec at a leading advertising firm, known industry-wide for her challenging and edgy campaigns. She’s got a large circle of friends, a family that loves her dearly, and her dance card is always full with handsome eligible bachelors. What else could a modern gal-about-town wish for? The answer, of course, is…cheese.
Natalie’s favorite part of each week is spending Saturday morning at the Union Square Farmer’s Market, where she indulges her love of all things triple cream. Her favorite booth also indulges her love of all things handsome. Oscar Mendoza, owner of the Bailey Falls Creamery and purveyor of the finest artisanal cheeses the Hudson Valley has to offer, is tall, dark, mysterious, and a bit oblivious. Or so she thinks. But that doesn’t stop Natalie from fantasizing about the size of his, ahem, milk can.
Romance is churning, passion is burning, and something incredible is rising to the top. Could it be…love?

The Redhead series by Alice Clayton was one of the most fun times I have had while reading. I went on to read Wallbanger and that cemented my love of all things Alice Clayton. I dare anyone to read the cat scene in Wallbanger without laughing out loud. If you have to ask what cat scene, then you haven’t read the book! So it was easy for me to decide to request this book from Net Galley in exchange for a fair an honest review. I must admit that I have not read Nuts, book 1 in this series, but it’s not necessary to enjoy this one.
Natalie Grayson is a big girl, and not only does she own it, but she dresses to accentuate every curve. She’s an executive at an ad agency and is extremely popular on the New York party scene. Her favorite thing(besides men) is cheese in all it’s forms, and it’s cheese that draws her to a cheese stand at her favorite outdoor market every Saturday. The man behind the counter is what makes her come back every Saturday, so she can drool and speak a couple of words only. She, who dates anyone she wants, can’t complete a sentence around him. Natalie’s best friend, Roxie(and heroine of Nuts)lives in the same small town as the Bailey Falls Dairy Creamery-the very one that makes the cheese from Natalie’s dreamy mystery man, and also who she knows from Roxie is named Oscar. When she gets the account to publicize the town of Bailey Falls for tourism, she has to travel there and finally meets Oscar.
I am not a big fan of books that are billed as erotica. However, there are a few authors that I bend that rule for, and one of them is Alice Clayton. Her books aren’t hard core erotica and no one gets physically harmed or tied up, so that’s good as far as I am concerned. The humor in her books is always off the charts and you know going in that not only are you going to get a hot, sexy read, but you are also going to be laughing a lot of the time spent reading. Clayton is able to paint pictures of her characters and all they go through, so that you can easily picture everything, and I appreciate when an author can do that. Every minute Natalie spends with Oscar definitely comes to life for the reader. She brings all the feels as well for the characters. When Natalie is doubting what she wants to do with her life, when Oscar makes Natalie mad with his behavior, when both are unsure of how the other feels, it’s all perfectly written by Ms. Clayton. Of course there are hurdles for the two, and they are also handled with ease by this author. Oscar’s ex-wife, Missy, and her jealousy, Natalie’s jealousy of Missy, it’s all there and then some.
So. Well written, great characters, amazing romance, and so much humor. It’s all here in this book. Even if I wasn’t a fan of Clayton’s work, I would still highly recommend this read. It’s probably the most fun you can have reading in awhile-unless you have been reading others by this author.
Definitely an adult must read!
