Sometimes the monster that haunted you as a child truly is real…
All it took was one phone call to bring Nicole Jones’s life crumbling down around her. Now a nightmare she thought she’d left in her past is back, and he’s not exactly bringing her candy and flowers. While fleeing, in a non-terrified fashion, she meets a menacing man in a dark alley. Then promptly passes out at his feet. Gideon Evans hasn’t exactly been having the best run of luck, but all that changes when a buxom little blonde collapses right in front of him. Or at least he thinks it has. It doesn’t take him long to realize that bombshell is an appropriate description for more than just her looks. Now he’s facing several problems, including a surprising enemy, his own dark past, and a rather inconvenient case of lust.
Can they work together to battle the nightmare that’s chasing them? Or will they succumb to the monster within?
I didn’t know this was a novella until I was done reading and didn’t realize it was over. The story draws you in and keeps you interested from the first page. It was a really quick read and I think you will find yourself wanting to read the first book of this series as soon as it is released.
Nicole is trying to live a normal life even though she has secret powers. Having escaped an evil man fifteen years previously, he turns up in her life again. While trying to run away she runs into a man and promptly faints at his feet. When she wakes up the next morning she realizes he has brought her to his home. To say that she immediately feels lust for him is an understatement. And his beast within has already claimed her as his mate although she doesn’t know that.
Since it was such as short read, I can’t go deeper into the story without spoilers so I will just say that the story is very sexually charged but it goes even further and offers us a new spin to the paranormal and actually a pretty great story. I was left wanting to know more about the characters and especially more about Nicole’s powers-is she a witch or something else? Is there a whole group of otherworldly characters in this world the author has created or just a few? I guess you could say I wanted more story! I give it 4 stars bordering on 4.5.
