It’s been awhile since I’ve read any novels in this series but these two stories (novella and a short) are some of my favorites.
I remember first reading Dark Descent, I wanted more of Joie and Traian right away. I kept reading the series and still didn’t get it I can’t remember when I stopped reading the series but at that point, I still hadn’t come upon more of their storyline. Maybe readers who’ve read the entire series by MsFeehan could leave me a comment if the story was ever followed up.
I really enjoyed Josie and Traian’s story. The world building and character portrayals were intriguing. Everything was going along at a pretty good clip and then….the end. It was quite abrupt and I was just sitting there, saying, “Really?”  I also thought I would get more of Jubal and Gabrielle’s story in the not too distant future. That didn’t happen either. Maybe I stopped reading the series before I reached them.
As you can tell, I was frustrated. I loved the characters and wanted more, it wasn’t there.
The short story, Dark Dream, is more complete and compelling to me. I enjoy Falcon and Sara together. He is ready to meet his Prince and then “complete his life”. Sara changes all that. She’s known Falcon through his words since she was a very young girl. She thought he was a dream.
If you’ve read or currently read the Carpathian Series, you will enjoy both stories. Ms Feehan is an excellent writer and I enjoy her works in other series also. I just got tired of the series for a while. I know I will go back and reread them and enjoy them all over again.
