[JENA] We have readers all over the world and I am always curious to see where our favorite authors are from. Where do you call base camp?
CONNIE SUTTLE [CONNIE] Oklahoma City

[JENA] A common trend as of late is cross-genre authors. It has become relatively uncommon to come across an author who only writes in one specific genre. It seems there are a lot of writers who like to dip their toes in all sorts of pools. Which genre or genres do you write?
[CONNIE] Fantasy, Science Fiction, Urban Fantasy, Paranormal Mystery

[JENA] Writers get inspiration from all over the place. Movies, books, music, people in their life, their own life, etc. Who or what is your most common muse?
[CONNIE] Any or all of those things, although I tend to get better inspiration from films—mostly when I start imagining how I’d handle a situation in a particular film, instead of going with how the director envisioned it. Sometimes it’s the same with books—I like to insert my characters in a situation I’ve read about, just to see how they’d react. It’s fun to imagine the different ways things might go.

[JENA] Are you 100% independently published or do you have traditional contracts as well? If you are 100% indie, would you ever consider a traditional publishing contract? Why or why not?
[CONNIE] I’ve been Indie published since the beginning, and now I can’t really imagine doing it any other way. I like having the freedom it gives me, and I know that my success or failure depends solely on me. I can’t complain that my agent didn’t get a good enough deal, or a publisher didn’t market my book as well as I’d like. That’s all on me. The rights stay with me; the decisions are all mine.

[JENA] Writer’s block sucks. What do you do to overcome the blank stare when it hits you with everything it has got?
[CONNIE] Turn my attention elsewhere—and do something I really don’t like to do—like housework. Believe me, after a few hours of that, I’m ready to get back to writing!
i hate housework

[JENA] Let’s gab about your books. What fictiony goodness have you already unleashed on the general populous?
[CONNIE] As of now, I’m working on my 30th book, which is scheduled for release the middle of May, 2014. I have seven series, four of which are complete. The series are:
Blood Destiny—10 books—complete
Legend of the Ir’Indicti—5 books—complete
High Demon –6 books—complete
God Wars—5 books—complete

The series which are ongoing:
Saa Thalarr—1st book in a 10 book series is published
First Ordinance—1st book in a 3 book series is published

Wyvern&CoFinalWeb
and Keeper, scheduled for Sept/Oct

[JENA] The latest trend with the indie author world is massive book signings and conventions featuring anywhere from 20 authors to 200 authors. What has your experience been at these events? Do you enjoy them? Or do they make you twitch and sweat?
[CONNIE] I’ve only been to one, and it was fun. I had my assistant, my husband and some fans there, so it went very well.

[JENA] Do you have any appearances coming up? If so, tell us when and where (provide links if you have them).

[JENA] Now it’s time for some just-for-fun questions! If you were digitized like Tron and put on the internet what site would you visit first?
[CONNIE] I’d probably hang out around KMM’s website, hoping for spoilers!

[JENA] Have you ever Googled yourself? If so, were you surprised or shocked by any of the results?
[CONNIE] Yes, and it was both those things.

[JENA] What would you do with a million dollars?
[CONNIE] Buy a house on the beach so I could watch the ocean while I write.

[JENA] If you were trapped on a desert island with one CD that you could listen to for the rest of your life what would it be?
[CONNIE] I wouldn’t have a CD. I’d have my solar-powered comp-vid with my entire music library on it, and listen to that while I waited for the signal I sent to the Larentii homeworld to facilitate my rescue.

[JENA] How do you consume – read the book then watch the movie or watch the movie then read the book?
[CONNIE] BookFirstBookFirstBookFirst!!

[JENA] If you could live forever, would you? Why or why not?
[CONNIE] Yes—because things are constantly changing. I’ll be sixty next month, and the changes during my lifetime are phenomenal. I watched firsthand the moon landing, first-run Star Trek, and so many other things. You can’t put a price on those things, after all.

[JENA] If you were faced with the zombie apocalypse and had to pick five people to be on your survival team, who would you pick?
[CONNIE] A Larentii to be named later, Lissa, Breanne, Kiarra and Hank Bell. (My fans will recognize those people, lol)

[JENA] Imagine the concept of reincarnation is real, who or what would you hope to come back as in your next life?
[CONNIE] A Larentii

[JENA] Thank you for participating in Indies In Their Undies!
[CONNIE] Thanks for inviting me!
