RELEASE DAY REVIEW by Lorna: Dirty (Dive Bar #1) by Kylie Scott (@KylieScottbooks , @Mollykatie112)

DirtyLove—on the rocks….
The last thing Vaughan Hewson expects to find when he returns to his childhood home is a broken hearted bride in his shower, let alone the drama and chaos that come with her.
Lydia Green doesn’t know whether to scream or cry in a corner. Discovering the love of your life is having an affair on your wedding day is bad enough. Finding out it’s with his best man is another thing all together.
Just when this runaway bride has nowhere left to turn, a handsome stranger offers her a broad, muscular shoulder to cry on. Vaughan is the exact opposite of the picture perfect, respected businessmen she’s normally drawn to. This former musician-turned-bartender is rough around the edges and is facing his own crossroads. But Lydia’s already tried Mr. Right and discovered he’s all wrong–maybe it’s time to give Mr. Right Now a chance.
After all, what’s wrong with getting dirty?
Dirty is the first book in the Dive Bar series from bestselling author Kylie Scott.

Stage Dive, the enormously popular series about a famous rock group, was a fantastic series-the kind where you end up loving all the characters. I enjoyed the whole thing, so when I saw that the author had started a new series, Dive Bar, I knew I wanted to read it. I was pretty tickled to find out that it is a sort of spin off of Stage Dive, with the hero of this book, being part of the opening act for Stage Dive, in the past. That being said, this is not a rock star book, and that was totally okay. More than okay.
Lydia is minutes away from her dream wedding when she receives a video on her phone from a blocked number. Stunned, she runs from the house and wedding. She climbs into a window of a nearby house and is found hours later by the owner of the house. Vaughan, is pretty stunned. as well, to find a bride in his bathtub. I am going to leave it at that as this whole first part of the book is enough to pull anyone into the book and keep the reader turning pages non-stop. At least that’s what happened for me.
Lydia was a sweet, curvy woman that just wanted love and a new life. She’s a real estate agent, engaged to the son of the agency owner, and is fairly new to town. Vaughan is a musician without a band, after it broke up. Out of money, he returns to his hometown in order to sell his house and put together a new band. He certainly wasn’t looking for romance. On Lydia’s part, of course she wasn’t looking for romance either. Now, friends with benefits..maybe.
More characters are introduced and most of them have something to do surrounding the bar, most notably Vaughan’s sister, Nell, one of the owners of the bar and also the chef. She’s a feisty redhead and I really liked her character and hope that she gets her own book before this series is over.
The term dive bar brings to mind dirty little hole in the wall bars or raucous roadhouses. In this case, that description couldn’t be further from the truth-instead it’s more a gathering place with a fun atmosphere and a good following of people. I was pretty glad about that because I couldn’t imagine a series written around a dirty little hole in the wall bar.
As usual with this author’s works, the sexual chemistry is off the charts between the two main characters. And of course there’s a big dose of steamy scenes, subsequently. Ms. Scott knows how to write a love scene and that’s undeniable, but she also brings the whole story full circle with a wonderful complement of good characters and situations. These are characters that you want to know and be friends with, and that’s always a good thing while reading. She also throws in a surprise character that I thoroughly enjoyed!
This was a non-stop, amazing read for me, and I highly recommend it to adult contemporary romance readers. I don’t think you could possibly be disappointed!
